Founded in 1928 to conserve endangered species and educate the community, Hoyt Arboretum encompasses 190 ridge-top acres and 12 miles of hiking trails just minutes from downtown Portland. Home to 2,300 species of trees and shrubs from six continents, it is a place of beauty and serenity no matter the season.
Arboretum is a collection of Andy Akiho’s own works inspired by trees, many of them with direct connections to the Hoyt Arboretum. The experience is an opportunity to explore everything from the ability of a tree to shed each year, dropping a part that is no longer needed or useful, to the concept of putting down roots, sonically exploring this idea of settling.

The soundwalk will take about 45 minutes (though extra wandering is encouraged!).
You’ll begin at the Portland Hoyt Arboretum Parking Lot located at 3999 SW Fairview Blvd. and follow the map in the guidebook linked below.
